Pam has paid her dues as a vocalist. Prior to emigrating from England some twenty years ago, she performed with guitar/vocal duos, trios, quartets and seven piece bands. She worked not only in London, but also in Germany, Austria and France, (and even in Brunei, N.W. Borneo.)

Since her arrival in Canada, she has fronted many small bands as leader and vocalist, and has also been featured with many big bands on the West Coast, in Victoria, Vancouver and San Francisco. Currently, she has just returned from a sojourn in the South of France, and is appearing in many venues in Victoria.

Earlier in her career, she sang songs of the 60’s and 70’s, as well as the blues, modern pop and folk music. But now her main love is jazz, which she has concentrated on since living in Canada.

Her voice is reminiscent of Ella Fitzgerald’s, June Christy’s and that of an English vocalist, Norma Winstone, all of whom had an early influence on this popular and entertaining chanteuse. Her mellow, velvety voice evokes the sounds of yesteryear, as it soars and floats like an instrument, exploring the dimensions of a song, then brings you back to the melody, with her own unique and expressive style.

Pam can work with any size of group, from an intimate duo, to a fifteen piece band, and has an extensive repertoire that includes folksongs, blues, swing, mainstream, and most emphatically, JAZZ.

"Clarke’s horn-like reading was a highlight of her charming,

thoughtful performance...I was struck by what a daring,

personal jazz expression I had stumbled upon..."
